Meet Dr Mallorie Arumugam

Founder & Principal Dentist – Gumz and More

Qualifications: BDS (RGU, 2012), PG Dip Restorative & Aesthetic Dentistry (Restorative Aesthetic Academy, current)

Dr Mallorie Arumugam is the founder and principal dentist of Gumz and More, a proudly family-based dental practice located in Roodepoort, Johannesburg. She graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University in India in 2012, then returned home to South Africa, where she completed her board exams with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and served her community service in the Greater Johannesburg Metropolitan area.

After gaining valuable experience in both Durban and Johannesburg, Dr Arumugam opened Gumz and More, which she has led for the past seven years as a dentist in Roodepoort. Her approach to dentistry is rooted in compassion, patience, and personal care, particularly for children and elderly patients, who often require a gentler touch and more time. Our practice is known for its warm, inclusive atmosphere, where every patient is treated with kindness and respect.

Dr Arumugam is currently pursuing a postgraduate diploma in Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry through the Restorative Aesthetic Academy, ensuring she stays at the forefront of modern clinical techniques and digital innovation.

With a strong commitment to community care, Gumz and More offers pensioners’ discounts and seasonal specials, helping make dental care more accessible and affordable to families in the surrounding area. Dr Arumugam also takes great pride in giving back, personally volunteering with schools, shelters and organising open days at the practice, offering free cleanings, consultations, and polishing for children under 12. These special days are about more than just treatment: they’re fun, educational, and filled with goodie bags, oral health workshops, and a genuine focus on empowering young patients. Dr Arumugam’s signature love for the colour pink is proudly reflected throughout Gumz and More, creating a joyful, welcoming space that mirrors her passion for creating positive, lasting dental experiences.
